Planning a wedding comes with a lot of questions, and choosing your photographer is an important part of the process. Below are answers to some of the most common questions couples ask when booking. If you’re wondering about something not listed here, feel free to reach out anytime!
How far in advance should we book our photographer?
Most couples book 8–14 months in advance, especially for popular spring and fall dates in the Fredericksburg and Northern Virginia area.
If you’re planning a shorter engagement, don’t worry, reach out and I’ll check availability.
How do we secure our wedding date?
Your date is officially reserved once the contract is signed and the 30% retainer is paid.
Until then, dates remain open and may be booked by another couple.
How many hours of coverage do we need?
Most weddings work best with 8–10 hours of coverage. This usually allows time to capture getting ready, first look or private vows, ceremony, family and couple portraits, and reception moments and dancing.
If you're planning a full send-off or a longer reception, 10 hours typically provides the most relaxed timeline.
Do you help with the wedding timeline?
Yes! Timeline planning is included with every wedding collection. I help couples build a photography timeline that keeps the day relaxed and ensures there is enough time for portraits, family photos, and natural moments throughout the day.
Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely. I photograph weddings throughout Fredericksburg, Richmond, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC, and I’m always happy to travel for destination weddings as well. Travel fees may apply for weddings outside of this area.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes. Engagement sessions are included in my two main wedding collections and can also be booked separately.
They’re a great way for us to work together before the wedding and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera.
How many photos will we receive?
Most couples receive 600–900+ fully edited images depending on the length of coverage and the pace of the day.
Every delivered image is carefully edited in my true-to-life, film-inspired style.
When will we receive our photos?
Your full gallery is delivered within approximately 6 weeks of your wedding. I also enjoy sending a small preview shortly after the wedding!
How will our photos be delivered?
Your images are delivered in a private online gallery where you can download high-resolution images, share the gallery with family and friends, and order professional prints and albums. There are no download limits.
Do you provide raw photos?
No. Raw files are not delivered. Every image in your gallery is carefully selected and edited to reflect the final style and quality of my work.
Can we order albums or prints?
Yes. Professional prints and heirloom albums are available directly through your gallery.
Some wedding collections also include a handcrafted layflat wedding album.
Do you work with a second photographer?
A second photographer can be added depending on the wedding timeline and coverage needs, though often not needed.
What if it rains on our wedding day?
Rain happens, and it rarely ruins the day.
Over the years I’ve photographed weddings in every kind of weather, and we’ll always have a backup plan for portraits if needed. Some of the most beautiful wedding photos actually happen on rainy days.
How would you describe your photography style?
My approach is documentary-inspired and natural.
Rather than making the day feel like a production, I focus on capturing real moments as they happen while keeping portraits relaxed and simple. The goal is a gallery that feels honest, timeless, and true to your day.
How do we get started?
Reach out through the contact form, and I’ll send over availability, collection details, and the next steps for booking.
